Jamie O’Hara has been accused on live radio of not being worthy of receiving a League Cup winners medal.
The midfielder was selected by Juande Ramos as Tottenham Hotspur’s 19th man for the final against Chelsea in 2008, which meant that he did not make it onto the substitutes bench and was instead a back-up in the event one of those selected ahead of him fell ill or got injured prior to kick-off.
The interview was conducted before a Liverpool side full of academy players faced Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter final.
Joe, the producer of the Jim White show on talkSPORT claimed that O’Hara should not have been handed a medal after watching his side beat Chelsea 2-1 in extra time following Jonathan Woodgate’s late winner.
O’Hara attempted to counter the claim by stating that he played in every match in the build-up to the Wembley showpiece but claimed he was left out after Ramos decided to include an additional defender on the bench.
