Video: ‘They deserve better’ – Hoddle defends Spurs fans and hits out at attitude of players

Glenn Hoddle has questioned the attitude of the Tottenham Hotspur players who took to the field against Vitesse Arnhem.

Nuno Espirito Santo gave the opportunity for his fringe players to catch the eye and put their hands up for consideration to break back into the Portuguese’s starting eleven for Sunday’s trip to West Ham United, only to witness a toothless performance having seen his side suffer a 1-0 loss.

Hoddle expressed his sympathy for the Spurs faithful who had made the trip to Holland in the middle of a pandemic only to witness a side devoid of any creativity and rarely threatened Vitesse.

The 63-year-old believes that the North London faithful deserve better than what they saw on the pitch and suggested that the players were lacking motivation.

Spurs now have it all to do if they harbour any hopes of qualifying for the next stage and find themselves third in the group behind Rennes and Vitesse.
