Video: “They played with virtually ten men” – Merson accuses Spurs star of being unfit

Paul Merson has claimed that he worried about Harry Kane when Jose Mourinho took over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane established himself as one of the top strikers in world football under previous head coach Jose Mourinho but believes the England international will struggle to play as a lone striker under the Portuguese.

The Spurs striker made his return to competitive football last night against Manchester United for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury on New Year’s Day.

Kane struggled to make an impact on the game and ended up dropping deep into midfield to try and get on the ball.

Merson believes that Spurs practically played with ten men against United after accusing the prolific frontman of not being fit.

At the end of the season, the 52-year-old has suggested that Kane will consider his future in North London and will fail to score 25-30 goals over the course of the next campaign due to the tactics with Mourinho operates.
