Darren Bent believes that Tottenham Hotspur should prioritise trying to win trophies next season over a top four finish.
The North Londoners found themselves outside of the top four for the first time in five years following their sixth-place finish this season.
The wait for silverware has been even longer with the club last tasting success back in 2008 when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final.
Bent believes that some Spurs fans he has spoken to would rather secure qualification in the Champions League over the prospect of silverware.
The former striker admits that while he would swap his League Cup winners medal to have had the opportunity to taste Champions League football, the aim of the club must be to add to the trophy cabinet.
? “For Spurs, it’s more important to win a trophy than finish top four.”
? “Would I swap my League Cup medal for Champions League football? 100%!”@DarrenBent says #THFC should chase trophies rather than top 4 next season… but he’d want to the opposite!
