Tottenham Hotspur striker Troy Parrott is enjoying a rich vein of form of late, and he capped off the season with a late winner for Ireland in the international friendly against Hungary.

Parrott has spent the year out on loan with Dutch side Excelsior Rotterdam, where he has registered 17 goals and five assists across 32 games (Transfermarkt).

That includes an incredible two hattricks in the Keuken Kampioen Play-Offs, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to keep Excelsior in the Eredivisie.

Parrott will now return to Tottenham for the summer, during which time important decisions will need to be made regarding his future.

It is unclear whether Parrott will get any opportunities at Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, and it is thought a number of European sides are keeping tabs on the forward in case he is made available this summer (Alasdair Gold).

Troy Parrot strikes late to win it for Ireland

Before he heads back to London to determine his next steps, Parrott has added to his goal tally for the year by hitting a late winner for his country on Tuesday night.

Parrott was introduced as a substitute in the 72nd minute, but it wasn’t until the 91st minute that the 22-year-old made his presence known.

With the scores at 1-1, Parrott applied pressure on Hungary from deep in his own half and the ball spilt loose. Parrott then carried the ball from the centre circle through to the opposition box, before applying a finish that found its way past the Hungary keeper.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s a shame but I just can’t see Parrott getting a chance at Spurs. We look likely to sign a new striker this summer, which would put him even further down the pecking order. Although, if we were to sell Richarlison, there could be a world where Parrott becomes our back-up striker, maybe.
