Tottenham confirmed their third summer signing of the window this morning when Matt Doherty put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the North Londoners.
The 28-year-old has been one of the Premier League’s most productive full-backs going forward over the last couple of seasons.
However, some Arsenal fans on social media have highlighted the fact that the right-back grew up as a Gooner and professed his love for Spurs’ North London rivals publicly on multiple occasions in the past.
After completing the deal, Tottenham decided to poke fun at his Arsenal connections by asking the defender to delete his previous tweets about Arsenal.
Here is the cheeky video Spurs posted on confirming the defender’s signing:

I thought that was top-class banter from the Tottenham social media team. I have not really seen any Spurs fans suggest that Doherty growing up as an Arsenal support is a problem. If anything, it is a testament to Tottenham’s pulling power.
