Video: Tottenham star leaves Ajax stadium on crutches after historic win

Tottenham Hotspur followed in the footsteps of Liverpool and did the impossible last night as they recovered from a 3-0 aggregate deficit in just 45 minutes of football.

After the first half in Amsterdam, Spurs had conceded two goals to go with Ajax’s away strike at the new Spurs stadium last week.

The Lilywhites looked down and out, but no one told Lucas Moura, who bagged an incredible hat-trick in the second half, becoming only the fifth man to do so in the Champions League semi-final.

However, it wasn’t all good news for Spurs, as central defender Jan Vertonghen was seen leaving the stadium on crutches and in a protective boot after the celebrations.

The news was broken by HLN, but they claim the Spurs doctors believe it is a minor injury and the boot was just a precaution.

Vertonghen is said to have picked up the knock in the first half, but was always unlikely to leave the action early again against his former club in the Champions League semi.
