Video: Tottenham star thinks team was ‘too passive’ against Southampton

Lucas Moura has admitted that Tottenham were too passive against Southampton and let the away side have too much space.

Three weeks can be a long time in football and Spurs certainly found that out on Wednesday.

The feeling of disappointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday after Southampton’s late comeback was in complete contrast to the feeling of elation following the dramatic late show that Antonio Conte’s men produced at the King Power Stadium last month.

Moura admitted that while Spurs did not play well, they had the opportunity to have the result in the bag in the second half.

The Brazilian stressed the need for the team to learn from their mistakes against the Saints and to put things right against Wolves on Sunday.

It would have been a tremendous boost to the team’s confidence had we managed to see out a 2-1 win yesterday despite not playing well.

However, our poor game management and mistakes at the back in the final ten minutes showed that this side still lacks leadership and has a lot of room for improvement.
