Video: Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson scores to take Wales one step closer to the Euros

Wales thrashed Finald 4-1 in the semifinal of the European Championship qualifier, with Brennan Johnson finding the back of the net for the Dragons.

It was a big night for Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium in their quest to qualify for the Euros for the third successive occasion.

The Dragons, who were captained by Ben Davies and also had Spurs loanee Joe Rodon in their starting eleven, proved too good for Finland, brushing them aside with ease.

Harry Brooks and Nico Williams put the home side 2-0 up in the first-half but Teemu Pukki pulled one back at the stroke of half-time to bring the Fines back into the game.

Johnson then found the back of the net at the start of the second period to give his side some breathing room before Daniel James put the icing on the cake for Robert Page’s men late on.

The Tottenham man was at the right place at the right time to turn home Brooks’ skewed effort at the far post, thus helping set up a final clash with Poland next week for a ticket to Germany next summer.

Even apart from his goal, Johnson produced an excellent all-round performance as a centre-forward, using his body well to hold up the ball and constantly looking to make runs in behind the Finland backline.

The 22-year-old certainly possesses the attributes to evolve into more of a number nine over the coming years, with the youngster being quite deceptively strong.
