Destiny Udogie made his mark against Torino on Sunday but the left wing-back could not prevent Udinese from falling to a shock defeat at home.
Tottenham snapped up Udogie this summer on the back of the teenager’s breakthrough season at Udinese and loaned him back to the Italian club for the 2022-23 campaign.
Spurs reportedly saw off competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Juventus for the Italy Under-21 international’s signature (TuttoMercatoWeb).
Tottenham’s decision to loan Udogie back to Udinese is already looking like a masterstroke, with the 19-year-old starting the season in impressive form for Andrea Sottil’s side.
The left wing-back set up Gerard Deulofeu’s equaliser on Sunday as he used his pace to capitalise on sloppy play from Torino before putting the ball in a plate for the former Watford man.
However, Pietro Pellegri’s strike on 69 minutes saw Torino emerge with all three points from the Dacia Arena.

The way Udogie pressed high up the pitch to win the ball was impressive, although he was aided by some poor decision-making by Torino.
The 19-year-old’s engine is clearly one of his best attributes, which is probably one of the things that convinced Conte and Paratici of his suitability for Tottenham’s system.
