Troy Parrott netted an outstanding hat trick for Excelsior Rotterdam, thus taking the club one step closer to preserving their Eredivisie status.

Although the regular league stage has come to an end in the Netherlands, Excelsior are now competing in relegation/promotion play-offs after finishing in 16th place in the table.

The Dutch club delivered a statement performance against Den Haag on Saturday, thrashing them 7-0, with Parrott sending them on their way with the first three goals of the game.

His first two goals, which came in the 3rd and 27th minute, were both exquisite finishes, with the Irishman lobbing the goalkeeper for both strikes.

He then stepped up to wrongfoot the goalkeeper from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick on 31 minutes.

That takes Parrott’s goal tally to 13 strikes this season, with Excelsior now facing NAC in their final playoff game, with the winner of that clash set to be handed a place in the Dutch top flight next season.

The finish for the first goal was out of this world and shows why there is so much excitement around Parrott at Spurs. I suspect Postecoglou would want to take a closer look at the striker during pre-season before making a decision on his future.
