Video: Trippier provides pin-point assist on his league debut for Atletico

Kieran Trippier made his La Liga debut for Atletico Madrid last night and his contribution proved to be vital.

The right-back found himself with the ball at his feet on the right flank and whipped a perfect cross onto the head of Alvaro Morata close to the six yard box which the former Chelsea striker headed home in what proved to be the winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Getafe.

Trippier joined Atletico this summer in a £20million deal from Tottenham Hotspur after playing more than 100 games for the North London club (BBC).

Those who watched the 28-year-old during his three seasons at Spurs will acknowledge that the attacking side of his game and ability to provide an assist has never been an issue, defensively he looked frail during the last campaign but has certainly got his career in Spain off to a flying start.

After being left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad during the summer, Trippier is now looking to impress in the Spanish capital to earn his place back in the national side.
