Video: Troy Parrott scores first goal for Preston against Huddersfield Town

On-loan Tottenham striker Troy Parrott opened his account for Preston North End as they trashed Huddersfield Town 4-1 on Tuesday.

Since completing his loan move to Preston, Parrott has started both of the club’s Championship matches against Wigan Athletic and Hull City. However, the striker was yet to open his account with both games ending in a 0-0 draw.

Despite not getting on the scoresheet, the 20-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch against Hull, displaying some silky touches and proving a handful for the Tigers backline.

Parrott finally got off the mark for his new club in their Carabao Cup clash against Huddersfield yesterday evening.

With just six minutes on the clock, the Republic of Ireland international pounced on a loose ball inside the box to slot it into the far corner after Huddersfield goalkeeper Lee Nicholls parried a long-range shot.

The on-loan Spurs striker will be hoping that this strike is the first of many to come over the course of the campaign.

Parrott displayed a goalscorer’s instinct to be alive in the box and react first after the goalkeeper parried it away. It is very encouraging to see that the 20-year-old has started all three matches for the Championship club so far. He will grow in confidence as he gets more game time under his belt.
