Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Jose Mourinho’s decision to bring on Dele Alli and Gareth Bale against Manchester City will not have gone down well.
Tottenham were second best for the full 90 minutes at the Etihad to Pep Guardiola’s table toppers who tightened their grip on their quest for the title with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Spurs have now collected 16 points in 14 games and lost four games out of five in all competitions and remain in eighth.
Redknapp believes that Mourinho used Bale and Dele from the bench during the second half as an act to try and bail himself out, having treated both badly and is now asking the pair to help his side out.
The Sky pundit suggested that modern footballers do not buy into that method and the Portuguese is making a habit of upsetting too many people which he needs as allies rather than enemies.
🗣 "He has to accept responsibility for that, he's making a habit of upsetting too many people who he needs as allies not enemies."
