Tottenham played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Nice in their final friendly ahead of the resumption of the Premier League season.

Antonio Conte made only one change from the clash against Peterborough Under-21s as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg came into the starting lineup and got 45 minutes under his belt.

The likes of Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Pape Matar Sarr and Son Heung-min also got their first minutes after returning from the World Cup, with all four players coming on as second-half substitutes.

Matt Doherty, who started at left wing-back again, gave Spurs the lead in the 21st minute with a commanding finish into the top corner to take his tally to four goals in three matches.

Antoine Mendy then got the equaliser for the Ligue 1 side at the start of the second half after Dante’s header was blocked by a Spurs defender and fell kindly to the Frenchman.

Doherty’s performance was particularly eye-catching as the weight and timing of his passes were excellent. The 30-year-old seems to be riding high on confidence at the moment and Conte will be hoping that he can recapture the form he showed during the second half of last season until his injury.
