Video: Watch James Maddison set up England’s equaliser with a brilliant assist

James Maddison came off the bench to set up Jude Bellingham’s stoppage-time equaliser as England emerged with a 2-2 draw against Belgium at Wembley.

Maddison was introduced by Gareth Southgate in the 74th minute, replacing debutant Kobbie Mainoo as the Three Lions went in search of an equaliser.

The Tottenham man changed the complexion of the game when he came on, showcasing his creativity in the middle of the park, which is something England had lacked for much of the game.

He made a decisive impact in the dying stages of the game as Ollie Watkins battled to keep the ball in him to play by the touchline before Maddison picked out Jude Bellingham with a brilliant pass, with the Real Madrid man turning the ball home into the far corner.

With his impressive cameo, Maddison made a statement and showed his value to Southgate. While it is perhaps unlikely that the Tottenham man will start, given that Jude Bellingham is likely to be used as a number ten, the former Leicester man’s vision and passing range undoubtedly add a different dimension to the England side.
