Manchester City were certainly lucky not to be reduced to ten men when left-back Benjamin Mendy appeared to swing a punch at Tottenham’s Erik Lamela.
Mendy, who had a shocker of a game in City’s 1-0 win at Wembley showed his frustration when Lamela chased a ball down the flank.
The incident happened one minute into injury time and no action was taken by the referee or his officials which surely must mean that the FA must review and take retrospective action.
We all know Lamela is no saint, but he must be credited for not reacting to Mendy’s act of stupidity.
