Video: Watch Son give speech to Spurs teammates for first time as captain

In his first address to his teammates as Tottenham captain, Son Heung-min called all of the players to take responsibility in terms of their behaviour ahead of what is a big season for the club.

It did not come as much of a surprise when it was confirmed on Saturday that Son would take over the captain’s armband from Hugo Lloris following Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich.

The 30-year-old has been leading by example on the pitch for many years and on being given the armband, he implored his teammates to be together for the upcoming campaign.

Ange Postecoglou also reiterated a similar message, remarking that he wants leadership to come from many different players in the dressing room.

This is fully deserved for Sonny, who is a fantastic representative of the club. The South Korean clearly loves Spurs and it will be extremely pleasing if he is the man who lifts our next piece of silverware to end the club’s trophy drought.
