Video: Watch Tottenham’s Alfie Devine score his first goal for England U19s

Talented Tottenham midfielder Alfie Devine scored his first England U19 goal during a European Championship qualifier against Armenia U19 this week.

The Young Lions secured a 4-0 victory at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with Devine kicking off the scoring in Rotherham.

It took just six minutes for the Spurs man, 17, to find the net as he fired a low effort past Armenia goalkeeper Rafael Manasyan, his maiden England goal at Under-19 level.

His tally on the international stage comes in what has been a strong campaign for Devine, who has been excelling for Tottenham U23s this term.

He has scored nine goals in 15 appearances for the Spurs development side (Transfermarkt), which is currently sitting in fifth place in Premier League 2.

Devine’s form also earned him a call-up to the first team under Antonio Conte, where he made the match-day squad for Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Leeds last month.

Devine has excelled this season and it won’t be too long until he gets some senior football, likely out on loan at some point in the near future.

His development has been great to see and the fact he is playing at a slightly higher level at his age shows just how good he is, which should prepare him adequately going forward.
