Davinson Sanchez has opened up on the ‘healthy competition’ in the Tottenham defence this season, claiming the back line is ‘very close’ at the moment.

Since Conte moved to his trademark back three, Spurs have looked like a solid unit no matter who has been named in the starting line-up.

The likes of Cristian Romero, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Japhet Tanganga, and most recently, Clement Lenglet have all played in the back three under Conte.

And Sanchez claims the healthy competition and close bond is only pushing the players to get better.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This is why you not only need two players for every position, but also players with the right mentality who seem teammates as driving forces and partners rather than competition. Spurs have a great blend at the back at the moment and long may it continue.
