Watch: What Micky van de Ven was doing as Heung-min Son scored Tottenham penalty

A video doing the rounds on social media shows that Micky van de Ven did something hilarious just as Heung-min Son was about to take his Tottenham spot-kick against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Although there were a few concerning signs with Tottenham’s performance against the Cherries, especially in the first half, the Lilywhites managed to fight their way back from 2-0 down to salvage a point.

The equaliser came from the penalty spot, with Son stepping up to convert from the spot on 84 minutes after he was brought down in the box.

A video captured by a fan from the South Stand shows what one of his Tottenham teammates was doing just as the South Korean was about to take the penalty.

Nervous Micky van de Ven couldn’t watch Tottenham spot-kick

Heung-min Son showed terrific composure to send Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga the wrong way before slotting the ball into the other side of the net.

The Tottenham captain oozed confidence with his body language and did not ever look like missing, but one of his teammates was too nervous to watch.

A video captured by a fan shows that Van de Ven, who was standing on the halfway line, was facing his own goal instead of watching his captain take the penalty. The centre-back then erupted in celebration after hearing the supporters cheer.

Son makes admission about his penalty miss against Wolves

The South Korean had a bit of pressure on his shoulders while stepping up against the Cherries, having seen his last penalty in the Premier League being saved by Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa a few months ago.

Son admitted after the game that he was keen to make amends for his missed penalty and had been practising spot kicks after training regularly.

When asked if the penalty had gone as planned, the Tottenham star said: “Obviously, yes! I’m always practising after training. That was the moment I always wanted after my miss against Wolves.

“I just tried to stay calm and just be decisive and do what I choose to do. I was very committed to it. When the ball hit the net, I was very happy that I could help the team.”
