Tottenham Hotspur have been searching for a viable back-up to Harry Kane for a number of years now.
Roberto Soldado and Vincent Janssen failed to cut the mustard, while Fernando Llorente’s future remains uncertain despite a successful campaign.
It doesn’t look as if any academy players are that close to pushing their way into the first team yet, so Spurs may have to look elsewhere for a new frontman.
Back in May, Tottenham were reportedly leading the race to sign Celta Vigo striker, Maxi Gomez, with the 22-year-old scoring 13 goals in La Liga last season (Daily Star).
