Video: What Steven Bergwijn has been up to during the winter break

Steven Bergwijn enjoyed a dream debut for Tottenham Hotspur when he scored the opening goal in the 2-0 win against current champions Manchester City.

The 22-year-old had only made the switch to North London from PSV Eindhoven days earlier and found himself named in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven for the match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bergwijn was replaced in the 70th minute after suffering from cramp on his first outing in the English top flight and while some of his team-mates have been jetting around the world during the winter break to rest up, the Dutch international returned to his homeland to work on his conditioning.

Mourinho revealed at Friday’s press conference ahead of the trip to Aston Villa later today that Bergwijn is ready to play (Football.London).

Footage has emerged online which shows Bergwijn being put through a series of conditioning drills in order to return to the Premier League in good shape.
