Tottenham Hotspur fans will finally find out who their club are set to face in the Champions League quarter finals today.

Spurs qualified for the quarters for the first time since 2011 under Harry Redknapp, but have never been past this stage in the competition.

The North London side eased past the then German League leaders Borussia Dortmund in the round of sixteen by beating them both home and away.

The 4-0 aggregate win was bound to catch they eyes of the other seven clubs in the draw, including the three other English teams Liverpool, Man City and Man United.

The rest of the pot compromises of Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax, and Porto.

Despite Tottenham’s heroic comeback at the group stage and emphatic win in the first knock out round, talkSPORT host Adrian Durham still believes that Spurs are a waste of space.

The rant, as usual, is laughable, as Durham seems incapable of admitting when Spurs have done well.

He said (talkSPORT): “How can Spurs be contenders when you don’t sign players?

“I said the same thing about Arsenal, when they kept failing year, after year, after year, in this competition. They had no ambition.

“What is the point of Spurs wasting a space in the Champions League when they’re not even trying to win the thing?

“If Spurs don’t make any signings for two windows in a row and they’re involved in the Champions League, surely that tells you they’re not really interested in winning it?!

“If they do win it, it will be a pure fluke.”

Darren Gough disagreed, insisting Spurs have a good chance of winning. Watch the video below to hear the whole argument.

  1. Things you’ll never hear Durham Say— Peterborough finished in the top 4 of the Prem. Peterborough drawn against one of the top Euro giants, Peterborough in a Europa league spot this season, Peterborough made a record signing, Peterborough promoted to the premiership, Peterborough in a race for the title, Peterborough have one of the worlds top strikers, Peterborough announce the opening of a 62000 seat stadium — Need i go on.
That’s a team with no ambition not Spurs. We are competing on lemonade money with teams who have champagne finances and are there or there about. Yes maybe still not good enough to go the distance but bit by bit it will come.

  2. What is the point of Adrian Durham?? Has to say controversial things to make people listen. The whole Spurs not signing any players thing, in in accurate anyhow. They have signed Kane, Winls, Son, Dele on long term contracts. Looks like Eriksen and Toby will leave in the Summer, so they will be replaced, however we got to the QF of the CL on merit, and until we are knocked out, we will be giving it everything, you should take our CL place then Aid? DH

  3. So, Adrian “Doofus” Durham strikes again? At this point the Doofus prognostication is just one more one-sided opinion. With 8 teams left in the CL, any team is capable of winning it.

  4. Don’t anybody waste their time given this bloke the replys he wants.

He talks crap just to provoke a reaction waste of skin and a poor presenter.

    Enough said
