Video: ‘What’s the point Tottenham wasting a place in the Champions League’ – Adrian Durham

Tottenham Hotspur fans will finally find out who their club are set to face in the Champions League quarter finals today.

Spurs qualified for the quarters for the first time since 2011 under Harry Redknapp, but have never been past this stage in the competition.

The North London side eased past the then German League leaders Borussia Dortmund in the round of sixteen by beating them both home and away.

The 4-0 aggregate win was bound to catch they eyes of the other seven clubs in the draw, including the three other English teams Liverpool, Man City and Man United.

The rest of the pot compromises of Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax, and Porto.

Despite Tottenham’s heroic comeback at the group stage and emphatic win in the first knock out round, talkSPORT host Adrian Durham still believes that Spurs are a waste of space.

The rant, as usual, is laughable, as Durham seems incapable of admitting when Spurs have done well.

He said (talkSPORT): “How can Spurs be contenders when you don’t sign players?

“I said the same thing about Arsenal, when they kept failing year, after year, after year, in this competition. They had no ambition.

“What is the point of Spurs wasting a space in the Champions League when they’re not even trying to win the thing?

“If Spurs don’t make any signings for two windows in a row and they’re involved in the Champions League, surely that tells you they’re not really interested in winning it?!

“If they do win it, it will be a pure fluke.”

Darren Gough disagreed, insisting Spurs have a good chance of winning. Watch the video below to hear the whole argument.
