Videos: Watch Troy Parrott score MK Dons brace and Jack Clarke score first Sunderland goal

Troy Parrott scored a brace for MK Dons as they beat Cheltenham Town 3-1 on Tuesday while Jack Clarke opened his account for Sunderland in style as they beat Fleetwood Town.

Parrott has been in exceptional form for the Dons over recent months, displaying his creativity in the number ten role.

However, heading into Wednesday’s clash, the 20-year-old had not found the back of the net since the defeat at home to Aston Villa’s Under-21 back in October.

MK Dons boss Liam Manning told the League One club’s official website last month that he had been pleased with Parrott’s contribution and insisted it was only a matter of time before the striker started scoring goals.

That has indeed proved to be the case, with Parrott netting a brace in the 3-1 win over Cheltenham on Tuesday.

Parrott rose brilliantly to head home the Dons’ opener early in the encounter before sealing the win for the home side with a well-taken finish into the far corner in the 85th minute.

Meanwhile, Clarke has struggled for starts since joining Sunderland on loan in January but the youngster got his chance against Fleetwood on Wednesday.

The winger took his chance, producing a brilliant long-range effort in stoppage time after cutting in from the left.

Spurs Web Opinion

Parrott has been playing exceptionally well for MK Dons since the turn of the year but those goals will do wonders for the striker’s confidence. I would not be surprised if the floodgates now open for the Republic of Ireland international in the final couple of months of the campaign.
