Reports in Romania are claiming that Tottenham Hotspur have signed Steaua Bucharest central defender Vlad Chiriches.
The 23-year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Italy, but if reports are to believed the Romanian international is on his way to the Lane for around £6.9million. One fan told us he can cover the entire back line without a problem, but is most comfortable as the left centre-back.
Spurs fans may be asking why we have signed (apparently) another defender, however with doubts over the fitness of Jan Vertonghen for the start of the season and the release of William Gallas – AVB may have had his hand forced to bring in some cover.
