Wages to be stumbling block for striker move

Emmanuel Adebayor - Tottenham Hotspur News

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has warned on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor that he will have to take a substantial pay cut on his current £150,000-a-week salary to secure a permanent move from Manchester City.

‘If Emmanuel maintains his current form I would love to keep him but his wages are going to be a major stumbling block, that’s for sure,’ Redknapp told The Sun.

‘I have no idea how much we are paying towards his wages at the moment as the chairman [Daniel Levy] deals with those issues but I suspect they are massively subsidised by City.’

  1. Adebayor is helping us play better, but he has repeatedly proven that he does not deserve more money than anyone else at Spurs. He either takes 70k, or he should leave at the end of his loan. To me, a player on 150k will fight for his place. At City, he lost his place, and sulked, and moaned, and did not fight. A player is usually paid that much money because his undivided effort is guaranteed. If he were worth that money, City would not have discarded him – they fought to keep Tevez numerous times – yet could not wait to get Ade out of the door. 70k MAX.
