‘Waiting for outgoings’ – Fabrizio Romano gives update on Spurs transfer strategy

Fabrizio Romano has told Matt Hayes’ YouTube channel that Tottenham’s signings in January are dependent on outgoings from the club.

The transfer expert claimed that Tottenham are currently waiting to offload players before they spend money on new recruits.

Antonio Conte is yet to see a new signing walk through the doors of Hotspur Way, despite there being just five days left in the January transfer window.

The Times recently reported that Conte was willing to part with Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Dele Alli, Matt Doherty and Joe Rodon in January in order to fund new signings.

The midfield trio were all left out of the Italian’s squad to face Chelsea last time out, while Doherty and Rodon have found minutes hard to come by under the new head coach.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham are able to find loans or permanent moves for any of these players, and whether Paratici and Levy can then fund some new faces.

Romano said (01:30 onwards): “This is important to say. Outgoings in general are going to help with new signings for Tottenham. They are waiting for outgoings to sign new players.

“Let’s see if it will be Luis Diaz or what happens with Adama, Amrabat is the same. Outgoings, selling players is going to be key. We always say this and it’s still like this in the final days of the window.

“So, the answer is yes, not just for Luis Diaz, but for all the signings that Tottenham want to do.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

Outgoings are needed to find incomings. I think most Spurs fans appreciate that. What can be frustrating is the wait for things to happen. Why has it taken until January 26 for things to start moving?
