Wales decide to rest Bale for Croatia clash

Tottenham’s Gareth Bale has been left out of the Wales squad to face Croatia after being given time to rest.

Bale has been in superb form for Tottenham since his return to the side in January and Wales boss John Toshack has decided not to risk the left-sided player.

Tottenham’s Croatian contingent of Niko Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka are expected to miss the game through injury.  We had a look on the Croatian FA website but could not see a team announcement, so we’re unsure if newly-married Luka Modric will take part in the game in Osijek on May 23.  Of course, if you come across any news, let us know.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Errmmm rest him ? Why , hasnt he had enough rest with the premiership season over with now and no games until the international games, i dont see what else he might be doing in the meantime that requires him to be rested LOL, he's a professional, a bloody good one at that so he should play !!!!!!!!

  2. Modric will be playing versus Austria, Wales and Estonia, Slaven Bilic announced on the national TV.

    Long live Crottenham
