Wales caretaker manager Robert Page has revealed that he has not spoken to Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho over any concerns about Gareth Bale’s fitness.
Bale was photographed with an ice pack strapped to his ankle after coming off during the latter stages of the 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, in what was his first start in the Premier League since returning to North London in the summer (BBC).
Page is currently stepping in for Ryan Giggs who is missing from the national team set up for Thursday’s friendly against the United States and the Nations League double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Finland after being arrested over an alleged row with girlfriend Kate Greville at his Manchester home on November 1 (BBC).
He played down any speculation about Bale by revealing that he had spoken to the 31-year-old after reporting for duty and he is keen to play.
The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell featured Page’s comments on his Twitter feed.
Page: "We now have a fully fit Gareth Bale. I've had a conversion with him, he is raring to go. Team selection will be decided. We will have one eye on the two qualifiers, which are important for us. He's at a club where he seems to be enjoying his football, his training." #THFC
