Wales provide positive update on Joe Rodon

Wales have confirmed that Joe Rodon has returned to the national team setup in Cardiff following a period of rehabilitation.

The central defender has been on the sidelines since suffering an injury issue following Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League opener against Manchester City last month.

Rodon, who was not part of the Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad for the fixture took part in the cool down session on the pitch at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he sustained the injury (Football.London).

The former Swansea player is yet to feature under the new head coach, having not been part of the pre-season outings due to his involvement with Wales at Euro 2020.

Wales are next in action on Wednesday evening when they host Estonia in Cardiff. It remains to be seen what part Rodon will play in the World Cup qualifier, with Tottenham next in action on Saturday with a trip to Crystal Palace.

Sanchez and Dier have started the season impressively, however the return of Rodon is a huge boost and only adds further depth to the central defensive options, especially with Cristian Romero currently in South America.
