‘Walking very gingerly’ – Jonathan Veal on what he noticed about Harry Kane after win

PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal has revealed that Harry Kane was walking very gingerly following Tottenham Hotspur’s remarkable 3-2 win against Manchester City.

Veal was in the stand at the Etihad Stadium following the final whistle when Kane was conducting pitchside interviews with various media outlets and noticed that the striker was walking with reduced mobility.

The 28-year-old went down clutching his back in the 81st minute following a challenge and had to receive treatment on the injury from the club’s medical staff before returning to the pitch to play the remainder of the match.

Kane produced arguably the finest individual performance of the Premier League campaign at the home of the Premier League leaders.

The forward played a pivotal part in Dejan Kulusevski’s opener and made it 2-1 halfway through the second half. Just when it looked like Spurs would have to settle for a draw when City were awarded a late penalty, in injury time he rose to head into the bottom corner from a Kulusevski cross from the right.

Tottenham will be hoping that it is nothing more than some bruising to his lower back and he is available for Wednesday night’s trip to Burnley given the level of performance he has shown this evening.
