Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his YouTube channel that Tottenham Hotspur are looking to swiftly wrap up a deal for Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.
Over the last couple of weeks, plenty of outlets have indicated that Todibo is one of Tottenham’s top defensive targets in the January transfer window (Sky Sports).
Tottenham currently are operating a makeshift central defensive partnership of Cristian Romero and Ben Davies, with the Welshman currently covering for Micky van de Ven who suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea last month.
Yesterday, Romano took to social media platform X to claim that Spurs had opened talks with Nice over a potential transfer for the French international.
Spurs look to wrap up Todibo deal
Romano has now given a more comprehensive explanation of Tottenham’s pursuit of the defender, revealing on his YouTube channel that the Premier League side are locked in conversations with Nice along with the player’s camp.
He states that the North Londoners want the deal to be concluded ‘fast’ and do not want to spend an entire month negotiating with Nice.
Romano added that ‘nothing is decided’ yet and that the race for the 23-year-old remains open, with Manchester United also keen on securing his services.
Spurs Web Opinion
It is quite promising to hear that Spurs are acting with urgency in January and are not planning to wait until the end of the window to sign players on a discount.
Postecoglou needs a couple of bodies through the door fairly quickly to navigate through the busy schedule next month, given the number of players that Spurs are currently unable to call upon.
