‘Want to repay him’ – Kane says Spurs players had good meeting with Conte this week

Harry Kane insists he and his Tottenham teammates are going to continue fighting for Antonio Conte, remarking that they want to repay the Italian for the passion and effort he puts into every training session.

Amidst Tottenham’s struggles over recent weeks, reports have indicated that Conte might not last too long at the North London club, with the Lilywhites said to be eyeing the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel as his replacement (TMW).

However, following Spurs’ win over Craven Cottage last night, the 53-yea-old remarked that he is ‘really proud to be Tottenham manager’ (Daily Mail).

Kane revealed after the 1-0 win that the Spurs players had a meeting among themselves and resolved to do all they can to help Conte, who is going through a tough time.

The 29-year-old told Sky Sports (23/01/23 – 22:15 onwards – as relayed by Yahoo Sports): “He’s been through a difficult time outside of football with his personal life. Being part of a team, it’s not just the players on the pitch. It’s the manager, the staff and being there for each other.

“We want to win every game for him, he puts so much passion and effort into every game and every training session. We want to repay him with victories.

“We had a good meeting amongst ourselves with the manager in the week, just to talk amongst ourselves to get back to what we’re good at. We’re going to keep fighting. The manager’s a fighter, he’s a really passionate manager. We’ve got to keep working hard for him.”
