Diego Forlan has revealed that he would be happy to remain at Atletico Madrid for the rest of his career.
The 31-year-old has was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer and there has been rumours that Harry Redknapp could bolster his attacking options in January.
“I would love to retire at Atletico Madrid,’ he said. “But the board are the ones who decide and we must remember that.
“I have a contract and I’m very happy, and always answer the same when there are rumours. I’ve never said I wanted to leave.
“If offers come in, it’s necessary to see what is best for the club and best for me.
“I have certain plans for the future, but things change and it is difficult to know what will happen, but I want to continue in Europe for as long as possible.”
