Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg received plenty of praise on social media, not just from Spurs fans but also from journalists and opposition supporters as well, for the commitment that the midfielder showed in clearing the ball away after he had been fouled in the second half.
The midfielder produced a typically industrious and disciplined display in the base of Tottenham’s midfield at Anfield yesterday but could not stop his side from falling to a 2-1 defeat.
The Dane, along with Moussa Sissoko, often doubled up on Liverpool’s wide men while also denying the homes side’s midfielders and attackers any space or time on the ball in the final third.
There was one moment in particular in the second half that epitomised the 25-year-old’s desire and commitment when he won the ball off Curtis Jones before being fouled by the Liverpool midfielder.
Despite being on the ground, the Tottenham midfielder decided to head the ball away in an effort to keep it from Jones.
Some fans on social media were blown away by the midfielder’s willingness to put his body on the line.

Spurs Web Opinion
Despite not being blessed with spectacular physical or technical attributes, Hojbjerg has an unbelievable knack of reading the game, which allows him to always be at the right place to make interceptions. He, like some others in the Spurs side, hardly put a foot wrong at Anfield yesterday and did not deserve to be on the losing side.
