‘Wasn’t good enough’ – Mark Lawrenson shares his Brighton v Spurs prediction

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has shared his prediction ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion in tomorrow’s late kick-off.

Tottenham head into the fixture at the Amex Stadium on the back of a loss and a draw having been on the receiving end of a 3-1 scoreline in the north London derby last weekend and followed it up with a stalemate at Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek.

Lawrenson believes that Antonio Conte will have his players raring to go for the trip to the south coast and will bounce back to winning ways by taking all three points against Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Brighton come into the Premier League clash currently three points behind their opponents in fourth place, having won four of their opening seven fixtures.

Last time out, Lawrenson incorrectly predicted a 2-2 scoreline at the Emirates.

He told Paddy Power: “I just think Antonio Conte will be at his team after losing the north London derby. You know what he’s like. He’ll regard the midweek draw as okay but it just wasn’t good enough at Arsenal. I think he’ll whip them into shape.

“Brighton 1-2 Tottenham.”

Tottenham have had a difficult few days following the passing of their fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone and will certainly want to honour the ‘prof’ with a victory.

These are matches which Spurs need to be winning if they are serious about retaining their place in the top four come the end of the season. The question on many people’s minds is whether Conte is prepared to revert to 3-5-2.
