‘Wasn’t just Bayern fans watching’ – Harry Kane gives a cheeky nod to his Tottenham fans

Harry Kane has admitted that he was happy to give Tottenham fans something to smile about by scoring against the Old Enemy on Tuesday night.

Kane and Eric Dier both returned to English shores for a game for the first time since their respective moves to Bayern, with the Bundesliga side taking on the Gunners in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal yesterday.

As one would have expected, the two former Spurs stars received a hostile reception, with the home crowd booing them every time they touched the ball.

However, it was Kane who had the last laugh as he found the back of the net yet again at the Emirates Stadium, the sixth time he has done so in his career, which is a record for a non-Arsenal player (Opta Joe).

The former Tottenham man converted from the penalty spot, calmly sending David Raya the wrong way and rolling the ball into the back of the net.

The home side fought back to level the game at 2-2 but the Germans will be relatively pleased to head to the Allianz Stadium with the tie level, and Kane admitted that he was delighted for more reasons than one.

When asked if it was extra satisfying to score against Arsenal, given his Tottenham connections, he told TNT Sports: “I know it wasn’t just Bayern Munich fans watching this game tonight. So, maybe it was a little bit more pressure.”

Kane’s all-round play was quite excellent once again and he and his Bayern teammates will now fancy their chances of overcoming the Gunners in the second leg. One certainly would not bet against the former Tottenham man scoring again in Bavaria next week.
