‘Wasted there’ – Former Spur urges Mauricio Pochettino to return to Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Graham Roberts has taken to Twitter to urge Mauricio Pochettino to return to North London.

Pochettino, who is currently in charge at Paris Saint-Germain saw his side fail to threaten Manchester City during the Champions League semi final second leg against Manchester City last night, losing 4-1 on aggregate.

Daniel Levy sacked the Argentine in November 2019 after five years in charge, having found themselves fourteenth in the Premier League table and was replaced by Jose Mourinho less than twelve hours after it was announced that Pochettino would leave the club which he had led to the Champions League final a matter of months before (Guardian).

Mourinho’s spell at Tottenham also came to an end last month having suffered a humiliating Europa League exit at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb and their hopes of qualifying for European football’s most prestigious club competition looking to be too much of an ask.

Roberts claimed that Pochettino is wasted in the French capital after his players showed a lack of discipline in the final quarter of the game at the Etihad and suggested that he should ‘come home’.
