Former Tottenham striker Will Lankshear has wasted little time announcing himself to the Middlesbrough faithful with a stellar debut performance.

Tottenham Hotspur decided to part ways with academy striker Will Lankshear this summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old forward was fresh from an impressive season away on loan last campaign with Oxford United, where he grabbed 14 goals in the Championship.

Those numbers caught the eye of Middlesbrough, who decided to splash £20 million to lure the former Spurs academy star to the Riverside Stadium.

The centre-forward has now made his first appearance for the Championship side in their Carabao Cup first-round clash against Wrexham.

Lankshear was the star of the show, with the former Tottenham man managing to grab the only goal to send Boro into the second round of the competition in what was a dream debut.

It was a well-taken goal, with Lankshear bringing out the acrobatics, scoring with a scissor kick following a nod-down from Sebastian Berhalter.

Spurs fans may wonder if Lankshear was the right sale

Tottenham fans were not entirely convinced letting Lankshear go was the right piece of business this summer.

Spurs remain in the market for forward options and are yet to secure the services of one. Lankshear, on the other hand, put in a solid 8.1/10 performance according to FotMob.

According to the statistics-based website, no player had more touches in the opposition box (6) or took more shots (5) than the 21-year-old.
