Watch: Gary Neville explains why Liverpool v Spurs was a ‘nonsense’

Gary Neville has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool were both way off their usual standard of play during last Saturday’s Champions League final.

Both sides met in Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in what was a lethargic display from both sides who are usually renown` for their energy and high pressing style of play.

Liverpool took an early lead through a controversial penalty with Spurs looking like they would rarely threaten to level the score, before Divock Origi put the game to bed with just a few minutes remaining.

Neville described playing the final three weeks after the conclusion of the Premier League as ‘nonsense’ and something which needs to be addressed in the future.
