Tottenham Hotspur may have just scraped into the top four by the skin of their teeth this season after occupying third place for the majority of the campaign.
While the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all heavily invested in their squad during the summer, Spurs have not dipped into the transfer market during the past two windows.
The lack of recruitment has certainly hampered Tottenham’s progression during the current season, the departure of Mousa Dembele along with injuries to key players at pivotal times has caused Mauricio Pochettino issues and has had to rely on players to feature more often than what they probably should.
Manchester City and Liverpool, in particular, have an abundance of quality which allows them to freshen up their line up and also have options available to them from the substitutes bench who can come on and help change the fortunes of a game.
The former Premier League pair of Chris Sutton and Don Hutchinson believe that Spurs are the best-placed side to push City and Liverpool for the Premier League title next season but must invest if they want to challenge for silverware.
Here’s what they had to say on BBC 5 Live Sport.
'It is unthinkable for Spurs fans that they can't invest this summer'@chris_sutton73 and @donhutch4 agree that #THFC are the best placed team to challenge #MCFC and #LFC next year – but they need to sign players.
