Watford midfielder dismisses Spurs move to sign long-term deal

Abdoulaye Doucoure has signed a new five-year deal with Watford despite being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Doucoure has only been at the north-west London club for one and a half seasons but has attracted attention from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Since his move from Rennes, Doucoure has played 62 times for the Hornets and scored a total of eight goals but it his industrious work rate which has attracted his plaudits.

Chairman Scott Duxbury told the club’s website:

“It is clear that our ambitions as a club match Abdoulaye’s ambitions as a player,” he said.

“I am delighted that Abdoulaye has shown his commitment to what we are trying to achieve by signing a new long-term contract.”
