Watford without four first team players for Spurs match

It cannot be overestimated how important it is for Tottenham to take all three points against Watford this afternoon. The Lilywhites conceded ten goals in their last two matches against Bayern Munich and Brighton just before the international break.

This afternoon Mauricio Pochettino’s side face the Hornets who are rooted to the bottom of the table and are yet to win a Premier League match this season.

The visitors have confirmed that they will be without four first team players for their first ever trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores told the club’s official website that the team will be missing Sebastian Prödl, Troy Deeney, Isaac Success, and former Spurs midfielder Étienne Capoue for the game.

He said, “We have Capoue, Deeney, Prödl, and Success out, but we try to find a good solution. This is our mentality. We have others ready to play. We cannot depend on one player. We have lots of players with high quality and skill.”

Meanwhile, Spurs have confirmed that summer signings Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon have returned to full training, but Christian Eriksen’s fitness is being assessed ahead of the match.

Spurs Web Opinion

Who would have thought a home game against Watford a quarter of the way into the season would have turned out to be one of Mauricio Pochettino’s most important in his five and a half years at the club. Failure to win the match will intensify the pressure on the Argentine with the fixture list not getting any easier for the next couple of weeks.
