‘We always believe in ourselves’ – Poch on Spurs’ title challenge

Tottenham Hotspur continued their winning form of late in the Premier League by beating Newcastle 1-0 at Wembley today.

Spurs went into the game with the knowledge that a win and a win alone would take them about title rivals Man City.

Pochettino’s men controlled the game from start to finish, having the majority of the ball and the dangerous attacks.

However, it looked as if the stubborn Newcastle defence would keep them out as the minutes ticked by.

By the 83rd minute, it seemed as if it just wouldn’t be Tottenham’s day, until a routine knock down from Llorente found Son, who fired the ball towards goal.

This win sees Spurs move to second in the league, just four points behind leaders Liverpool.

Man City face Arsenal at home tomorrow, while Liverpool are away to West Ham on Monday.

Pochettino is adamant that his side always believe in themselves as they pull themselves into a three-way title fight.

Poch said (Football London): “We don’t need to be in some position like today to convince ourselves about our capacity, our potential or possibility to win. We always believe in ourselves. We are there because we believe in ourselves. Then it’s if we are capable to fight until the end, to be close and fight until the end to go close to our opponent to be champions. Today, we are there because we deserve to be there. We will see what happens in the future.”
