Tottenham owners, the Lewis family, have now directly addressed Spurs fans about the season the club has had and revealed what their plans are to put things right.
Spurs averted what would have been a historic disaster on Sunday by beating Everton 1-0 and ensuring they do not find themselves out of the top-flight for the first time in nearly half a century.
While there is huge relief among everyone associated with the club, they are left with the question of how things came so close to completely falling apart.
Roberto De Zerbi has been clear that Tottenham need to rebuild its squad this summer in order to avoid this situation happening again, and the club’s ownership has now spoken about their commitment.

The Lewis family say they are committed to investing in all areas of Tottenham
The Lewis family have now penned a direct letter to the fans, admitting that they are bitterly disappointed by how far Spurs have fallen over recent years.
However, the Tottenham owners made it clear that they will not be selling the club and shared their intention to invest in all areas of the club to ensure that they get back to where they belong.
The letter from the Lewis family reads on Tottenham’s official website:
“To the fans,
As owners of 25 years, we have lived the highs and lows of Spurs with you. Finishing 17th this and last season does not reflect the stature or potential of this football club. We are bitterly disappointed and share your frustration. You and we, expect more than this. We know this must never happen again.
“Our approach to running the Club is, and has been, to trust the experts to do that, while backing them to be successful. The problems we found were deeper than we realised and were allowed to build over the last few years. We know that has eroded trust and we have to win that back. As owners, we take ultimate responsibility for the situation in which the Club finds itself.
“We also take responsibility for rebuilding Spurs. Our ambition is to recapture the spirit of the Club and bring back the excitement, the fearlessness and the bold football we have always felt defined us. That means football comes first. The Board and Executive team have laid out their plans to meet this ambition.
“This will require investment – in our teams, the academy, our backroom functions and more – and we are fully committed to this. We are not selling the Club. We are all in. We are investing in it. You will see more of this in the coming months.
“We care deeply about Spurs. The rebuild the Club needs, and you deserve, has begun. The change required is deep. It will take time and commitment, but change is happening. We know that actions will speak louder than words.
The Lewis Family.”
Spurs fans will want actions rather than words
One cannot blame Tottenham fans for being sceptical about this message, given what they have witnessed unfold in the last few years.
There have been a few broken promises, and the supporters will understandably want to see the owners and the club hierarchy back up their words with tangible actions.
Anything other than an ambitious summer window will not be received well by the fan base after the season the club has just had.
