“We are back” – Spurs star makes confident assertion on the back of Arsenal draw

After Tottenham shock defeat at home to Newcastle United last week, there was a lot of reports suggesting that all was not well behind the scenes at the club.

While Spurs were backed by most pundits to finish third behind Manchester City and Liverpool at the onset, some have started to question the team after their less than ideal start to the season.

Given the negative narrative around the club, Mauricio Pochettino’s men certainly couldn’t afford to suffer another loss in the North London Derby on Sunday, and thankfully they showed enough fight to walk away with a draw.

Midfielder Harry Winks, who was one of Tottenham’s best performers at the Emirates has claimed that Spurs are now back to their normal selves following their performance on Sunday.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Winks said about the result, “Having dominated the first half with so many chances, it was difficult to take.

“We were excellent. We were aggressive and we showed in parts that we are back to our normal selves.”

The 23-year-old also dismissed the narrative of problems behind the scenes at the club and stressed on how tightly knit the group is.

The England midfielder added, “We are a strong squad, off the pitch as well as on it.

“We have got great energy around the camp and everybody has been positive and happy. Just results have not been going the way we wanted them to. But that’s football.

“Everybody is happy, everybody is getting on really well. We are working as hard as we can to try to get results and get back into winning ways.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Arsenal are an extremely hard team to beat at the Emirates and so Tottenham’s performance certainly deserves credit. There were signs particularly in the first half that the players were getting their sharpness back. Let’s hope now that the squad is settled, the team will start producing the results on the pitch following the international break.
