“We are in for a couple of painful seasons” – Some fans react to Watford draw

Tottenham Hotspur needed to put in a convincing performance against Watford to make a statement to their critics but they fell well short of that in the end.

The home side once again began slowly and allowed the Hornets to take the lead due to some sloppy defending.

After taking the lead the Hornets preferred to sit deep and hit Tottenham on the counter attack and was a tactic that worked for the majority of the game.

Spurs were much better in the second half as Mauricio Pochettino reverted to a 4-2-3-1 and his side pressed high up the pitch. While Watford did have their chances on the break to double their lead, Tottenham’s pressure eventually told as they equalised late in the game through Dele Alli.

Despite avoiding defeat, some Spurs fans were far from happy with the team’s performance, with many dreading the rest of the reason already. Many also questioned if Pochettino was the right man to steer the club out of the situation we now find ourselves in.

Spurs Web Opinion

The fans’ frustration is understandable given how poor the performance was particularly in the first half. The defence is still a massive worry as Watford threatened almost every single time they countered. This performance and result will do little to help the players confidence but the only saving grace is the fact that Spurs managed to get a late equalizer. Another defeat would have piled on some serious pressure on Mauricio Pochettino.

  1. For poch to blame the fans saying a poor atmosphere was to blame is disgusting. This was the worst team in the league we were playing and we were at home we should have beaten them easily. Poch is blaming everyone and everything sounds like a man with a plan and that plan is to leave spurs one way or another.
