Tottenham Hotspur needed to put in a convincing performance against Watford to make a statement to their critics but they fell well short of that in the end.
The home side once again began slowly and allowed the Hornets to take the lead due to some sloppy defending.
After taking the lead the Hornets preferred to sit deep and hit Tottenham on the counter attack and was a tactic that worked for the majority of the game.
Spurs were much better in the second half as Mauricio Pochettino reverted to a 4-2-3-1 and his side pressed high up the pitch. While Watford did have their chances on the break to double their lead, Tottenham’s pressure eventually told as they equalised late in the game through Dele Alli.
Despite avoiding defeat, some Spurs fans were far from happy with the team’s performance, with many dreading the rest of the reason already. Many also questioned if Pochettino was the right man to steer the club out of the situation we now find ourselves in.
At least after today people can stop blaming Eriksen for everything. Much bigger issues at the club than a couple of big name players.
This season is going to be painful and probably so is next. This ain’t going to be fixed anytime soon, but I still have faith it will.

Did Dele Alli just save Poch's job? Or prolong the inevitable…

What’s most worrying about Poch and Flores’s comments post game is that of being solid. Solid? It was Watford at home. He’s lost it

Remember quite a few seasons back where it felt every time a team attacked, we’d concede?
It’s felt like that the last few games. Really hard to watch.
Danny and Jan’s legs have gone. Aurier plays like he’s never had legs.

There’s no doubt we’ve been shit this season and I can’t see things turning much around till January but to everyone’s surprise we are somehow 7th itl albeit with United and Sheffield having a game in hand. Our season really is not ruined yet, being only 5 points off of 2nd place

Spurs Web Opinion
The fans’ frustration is understandable given how poor the performance was particularly in the first half. The defence is still a massive worry as Watford threatened almost every single time they countered. This performance and result will do little to help the players confidence but the only saving grace is the fact that Spurs managed to get a late equalizer. Another defeat would have piled on some serious pressure on Mauricio Pochettino.
