“We are ready to go” – Tottenham star issues rallying cry ahead of Dortmund clash

Son Heung-Min has been in terrific form in the last few months and has been finding the back of the net with astonishing regularity.

With Harry Kane and Dele Alli currently sidelined through injury, the South Korean has stepped up for Spurs as his goals have been crucial in ensuring they continue to keep the pressure on both Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the table.

Son’s recent form has even led some people to suggest that he should be in contention for the Player Of The Season award.

The 26-year-old has shown amazing energy levels as witnessed by his late goal against Leicester last Sunday.

Next up are Son’s favourite opponents Borussia Dortmund, who he has scored against 8 times in 10 appearances.

Ahead of the game Son has said that he believes Spurs are capable of overcoming Dortmund if they are at their best.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said “It’s amazing to play Champions League again, especially when we remember how difficult it was in the group stage to get to the last 16.

“At this level, these are always very tough games and we don’t want to focus on the other team, we have to focus on ourselves. We have to believe we can do it. I believe in myself and I believe in my team-mates. I’m ready to go and we are ready to go.”

Son also spoke about his amazing record against the German giants but said he can’t put his finger on why he plays so well against them.

He added, “I don’t know! Borussia Dortmund are one of the best teams in Germany, they are top of the table right now and it’s a special thing for me to play against them.

“It’s always been an honour to play against them, especially as I’ve won most times! It’s always great to win against such a big team. That doesn’t matter though, it is history and I just want to focus on this game.

“Football changes so quickly. Last season in the group stage they were still a great side but they’ve improved, they are even better than last season. It will be a very good game and I’m so excited to play against them again.”
