Son Heung-min has praised Antonio Conte and insisted that the Tottenham players need to take full responsibility for their 3-2 loss against Southampton.
Spurs’ defeat at home against the Saints came as a bitter blow to the North London club’s top-four hopes.
The manner of the loss would have left a bad taste in the mouth of everyone associated with Tottenham, particularly after the home side battled their way back to restore the lead in the 70th minute.
However, two lapses in concentration at the back in the 80th and 82nd minute was all it took for the Saints to turn around the result and walk away with all three points.
To make matters worse, Conte’s men thought that they had salvaged a point when substitute Steven Bergwijn put the ball into the back of the net in stoppage time, only for VAR to disallow the goal for offside.
In his post-match press conference (Football.London), Conte was not too critical of his players, insisting that he could not have expected any more from them in terms of effort or commitment.
Son has now praised the Italian for the mentality he is trying to instil in the Spurs side and urged the players to put things right against Wolves on Sunday.

The South Korean told BT Sport 3 HD (9/2/22 at 22:00): “We are so pleased he (Antonio Conte) is giving us so much positive vibes and energy and a winning mentality.
“If we lose, players should take responsibility. We have to bring back on Sunday where we should be.”

As disappointing as the performance and the result was on Wednesday, the post-match comments from the players and Conte have been quite reassuring. The Italian seems to be happy with the attitude and the work ethic of his players. I expect a reaction from the team against Wolves on Sunday.
